Index 03:30
strips of straight lines of oak cold studded grain on my shoulder blades tainted waves grazing lobes ears in a frenzy for far off groans something stands between these reflections of a fictional me you turned a hinge, twisting keys revealing a space - it was smaller than size i felt the floor from angled knees receiving a word in a holy disguise something stands between these reflections of a fictional me it's these frames that i hold between a swollen thumb and the index of my soul marks on my jaw you never saw in flash or film now i'm curled inside myself in a ball upon the floor i'm not seeking their attention anymore cause i know what lies between these reflections of a fictional me i know what lies between -- it's you

I was lost here in California, glancing backwards across my shoulder. Digging graves for freedom riders, Feeling grateful that I'm beside her. Now I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, And no ones gonna say that I won't. "Standard candle, upon the mantel piece, living in your shadow always seemed so sweet, retribution for causing mayhem, an old solution for modern problems. Now I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, And no ones gonna say that I won't. I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna say that I want you, That I want you oh...

Crossed Legs 03:44
i heard you're teaching yourself to float it's going better than you'd hoped but like an anchor on a line, you resign to rise and fall lifted, unallowed to have it all you say you hover in your place but you cannot shift your weight if you lean you start to roll then the earth takes control you find that you no longer levitate you just skip like a rock that's been carelessly tossed to a stream and when you stop you say you feel you've found a meaning you lost in the ground and now i stare crossed legs, you hang in the air so i open my mouth and close it slowly open my mouth and gape at the view posture as a statue's, vertebrae aligned you say "hey, you've got a silence i can listen to so would it be weird if you worked on making those lips disappear?" i say "no, less it weren't for all those years i obsessed over words and in this state i won't claim to be more than my traits

She says, “It’s time to settle down, but I keep moving into some vacant spot in someone else’s life, to wither as they grow.” And if the fool still wears the crown, there’ll be no fooling me. ‘Cause I’ll be nothing but a vagabond’s remains with a mystery in tow. I saw the changing of the guard, but I was frozen by imperfections in the summer sunlight as I tried to have it all. “I heard you mock me at the station, that’s when you drifted out of my sight.” These words were pouring out of me, “I thought you lost them when you woke up in that bathroom stall.

Bullseye 04:56
i hope you know what i mean i fear that you are slipping from the scene eyes with rings orbiting in red and green you're not overshot or falling up short you fail to differentiate the wall from the board and you think of all those you've known thrown, but never hit home influences meant and never meant to happen they pin you to a gamble you don't take well i can tell you've been staring at a map of your world with your fingers curled around a dart it's sharp, but do you trust where it lands and your own hand enough to show you who you are? i'll admit i'm ashamed but i can't be brought to talk to you today pepper on the cork, you'll be working on your aim i've been trained to step in when you land outside the lines understand - i'm afraid i'm inclined to just say throw it all away just think of all those you've known they can't just hand you a bone all the chances meant and never meant to take making you feel like it's one big game all the same, you've been staring at the map of your world with your fingers curled around a dart will it fly true or are you making up a sport just to force a bullseye on your heart?

We don’t bother each other when we’re on our own. So go on, see your mother. She’ll tell you “My, how you’ve grown.” And I’m changing my morning, one breath at a time, with my face in my pillow and my head in the sky. When you’re lying on your back When you’re lying on your back When you’re lying on your back… I’m still weak with starvation but I’ve got freedom to spare to survey this great nation from some cheap office chair. “Well I was frozen in place at the sight of your face as you stumbled through the marshes and bogs that had kept me from saving the day. This god that you worship obstructed my view of the scenery and I don’t mean to use slander, but I see no other way.” When you’re lying on your back When you’re lying on your back When you’re lying on your back…

you blink behind a tinted lens your science in a dragon den i cannot take you seriously i want to take you seriously there's more in sight than i can see more oxygen than i can breathe just please repeat it back to me please repeat it back you try, but it's carving a knot in your throat like most, you gulp 'til your gut is just churning around learning your worth in a place that is back and forth it's just a stroll around the block how holes get worn in heels of socks i cannot take you seriously i want to take you seriously you push the cart across the lot the wheels snag on asphalt rock squeak. squeak. squeak. squeak. squeak. squeak. squeak. it sounds like ringing a chime in your ears this kind reverberates loudest when listening alone cause the tone you chase resonates in a place that is still.

"Toss me your camera. Let’s find you a picture frame. We’ll pick our way back down the path, the one along which you came." I’ve requested my freedom in writing. It’s scratched across your marble floor for when gravity is too much to bear and you feel yourself stiffen. I had put my stale worries inside so that there would be no chance for these infinite thoughts of my ceiling to get in the way. And with the canyon below us I was struck by the romance of a place that could make you believe that your fortunes could change. I’m sinking my teeth into gold and I’m watching the mystery unwind, hunting for scraps of your time, ‘cause I can’t get you off of my mind. As we walked the pedestrian boulevard, we lay out our new plan to protect us from petty mistakes in the grips of a foreign land. "You could’ve staved off our ruin and turned to the east, I could see you there. But at the end of the day, We rose from the dead.” I’m sinking my teeth into gold and I’m watching the mystery unwind, hunting for scraps of your time, ‘cause I can’t get you off of my mind. Well if I am to trust in your tolerance for things that you can’t see, like the currents I tend to resist, I’ll need you to follow me. You know that I could dissolve my exotic, ambivalent empire’s gate but I shrink as you stand there, smoking grass, and you try to remember the last thing that you were looking for. And now you ask me for more, as if you’re childish contempt’s just a system to get what you need. And like you’re stoic attempts to be certain, it’s led you to me. I’m sinking my teeth into gold and I’m watching the mystery unwind, hunting for scraps of your time, ‘cause I can’t get you off of my mind. I cast you a spell. And you called for someone to come lift it. It turns out you needed it more than you had foreseen. We sat ‘round the fire and talked about what makes us different from people who get all their color from TV screens. I’m sinking my teeth into gold and I’m watching the mystery unwind, hunting for scraps of your time, ‘cause I can’t get you off of my mind.
